Simon Pagenaud took his second pole position of the 2019 IndyCar season for the season’s 11th race, the Honda Indy Toronto, at Exhibition Place.

Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud, who topped the speed charts in the second and third or three practice sessions for this Sunday’s Honda Indy Toronto, the 11th of 17 races on the 2019 IndyCar schedule, took the pole position for this race at Exhibition Place.

This pole position is Pagenaud’s second pole position of the season, as he also took the pole position for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a race he went on to win for the first time in his IndyCar career.

Pagenaud took the pole position for this 85-lap race around the 11-turn, 1.786-mile (2.874-kilometer) temporary street circuit on the streets of Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by recording a top lap time of 58.4293 seconds (110.0407 miles per hour) in the Firestone Fast Six qualifying session for this race in his #22 Chevrolet.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon is set to start the race alongside Pagenaud on the front row in second place in his #9 Honda, and Honda drivers are set to round out the rest of the top four as well after Chip Ganassi Racing rookie Felix Rosenqvist and Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi qualified in third and fourth in their #10 Honda and #27 Honda, respectively.

Dixon spun out at the end of the Firestone Fast Six qualifying session, but he did not impede the progress of anybody else, nor did he cause a red flag to be thrown. As a result, he retained his second place starting position for this race.

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden and Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa’s Ed Jones were the slowest two of the six drivers who advanced to the Firestone Fast Six. They qualified in fifth and sixth place in their #2 Chevrolet and #20 Chevrolet, respectively.

Andretti Herta Autosport’s Marco Andretti, Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan’s Sebastien Bourdais, Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato are set to round out the top 10 on the starting grid after qualifying in seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #98 Honda, #18 Honda, #21 Chevrolet and #30 Honda, respectively, in the second round of qualifying for this race.

Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal were the slowest two of the 12 drivers who advanced to the second round of qualifying for this race. They qualified in 11th and 12th place in their #28 Honda and #15 Honda, respectively.
