A total of 23 drivers are set to compete in the penultimate race on the 2019 IndyCar schedule, the Grand Prix of Portland, at Portland International Raceway.

The Grand Prix of Portland at Portland International Raceway is the penultimate road or street course race on the 17-race 2019 IndyCar schedule, and it is the penultimate overall race on the schedule as well.

Following this race, only the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California will remain on the schedule before this year’s champion is crowned.

A total of 23 drivers are set to compete in this Sunday’s 105-lap race around the the 12-turn, 1.967-mile (3.166-kilometer) Portland International Raceway natural terrain road course in Portland, Oregon, marking the ninth race of the season to feature at least 23 drivers. Of these other eight races, five featured more than 23 drivers while three featured exactly 23.

All 19 of the full-time drivers who have not missed any one of the season’s first 15 races are set to compete in this race, as are four part-time drivers.

The four part-time drivers who are set to compete in this race are Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa’s Ed Jones, Carlin teammates Charlie Kimball and Max Chilton and Meyer Shank Racing with Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ Jack Harvey.

Jones is set to drive the #20 Chevrolet for the 11th time this season, as he is Ed Carpenter Racing’s road and street course specialist. However, he also drove the #64 Chevrolet for the team in the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, so his start in this Sunday’s race is set to be his 12th of the season.

Kimball is set to drive the #23 Chevrolet for the sixth time this season, although this is only set to be his second road or street course start of the year. He competed in the season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida before competing in each of the five oval races except for the race at Iowa Speedway.

Chilton is set to drive the #59 Chevrolet for the 11th time this season, as he no longer competes in oval races. He did attempt to qualify for the Indy 500, but he failed to do so.

Finally, Harvey is set to drive the #60 Honda for the ninth time this season. Like Jones, his lone oval race so far this season was the Indy 500, although he is not a full-time road and street course driver.
