Ross Chastain is set to join Daniel Suarez at Trackhouse Racing Team for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season behind the wheel of the #1 Chevrolet.

At the end of June, it was announced that Trackhouse Racing Team would be acquiring Chip Ganassi Racing following the conclusion of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season and that they would be running two chartered entries as opposed to only one like are doing this year.

This news left Chip Ganassi Racing’s two current drivers, Kurt Busch and Ross Chastain, without deals to compete in 2022, though Trackhouse Racing Team made clear that both were on their radar as potential second drivers for their second season in the sport.

The #1 Chevrolet is currently the Chip Ganassi Racing entry driven by Busch, whose potential move to 23XI Racing now seems like a slam dunk, provided they do end up expanding to two cars for next year like they have made clear that they want to.

Through the first 22 races of his first season behind the wheel of the #42 Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi Racing, Chastain sits in 18th place in the point standings with an average finish of 17.8, two top four finishes and six top eight finishes. His best finish is a runner-up result in the inaugural race at Nashville Superspeedway.
