The first race of IndyCar's weekend doubleheader at the Milwaukee Mile got off to a delayed start on Saturday afternoon, and then once it finally got underway, it didn't take long for more rain to cause a lengthy yellow flag period, and then ultimately a red flag.

The goal was to dry the four-turn, 1.015-mile (1.633-kilometer) West Allis, Wisconsin oval in time to get Saturday's Snap-on Makers and Fixers 250 to half-distance (125 laps); the red flag came after lap 90, and Milwaukee does not have track lights.

However, despite the best efforts of all involved, the track was unable to be dried before sundown, and the remaining 160 laps were pushed back to Sunday morning.

But more rain on Sunday morning resulted in another postponement, and now IndyCar is set to run an entire race between now and the resumption of the first race.

IndyCar plans to run the regularly scheduled Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250, race two of the doubleheader, on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. ET, followed by the conclusion of race one at 6:00 p.m. ET. The afternoon race is still set to be shown live on Fox, while the final 160 laps of the evening race are set to be shown live on Fox Sports 1.

The starting lineup for the afternoon race was determined by lap two of Saturday morning's qualifying session, while the restarting lineup for the evening race is based on how the drivers were running on lap 91 when the race was suspended on Saturday.

IndyCar has not run two races on the same day since July 2014, when the Saturday race of the Toronto street course doubleheader was pushed back to Sunday morning due to rain, and the Sunday afternoon race was run as planned.

IndyCar hasn't run a regularly scheduled race before the resumption of a race that had already been started since delaying the June 2016 race at Texas Motor Speedway by 11 weeks until late August, after it had only reached lap 71 of 248 following its own initial postponement from Saturday to Sunday.

Here's a look at both of today's starting (or restarting) lineups.
